Education visits
The Naze Tower welcomes visits from schools and colleges. To book or discuss a visit please Contact us.
The visit can be orientated towards studying Geography, History and / or Art and can include a talk by the Co-Director Michelle Nye-Browne that relate to any of these subjects. We offer a service that can be adapted for your school's requirements and are developing study that will be linked to the National Curriculum and Key Stages.
Primary Schools most often have a visit that encompasses all the subjects above. Secondary Schools and Colleges most frequently visit The Naze to study Geography - Coastal Erosion. Teachers find a visit to the Tower enhances their field studies:
- From the roof Viewing Platform you can compare the protected and unprotected coastline and gain an expansive view of the coastal area and a birds eye view of the two SSSIs – Hamford Waters and the Naze Cliffs.
- The Geography talk offers a Q & A opportunity and can cover the Tower, The Naze, Coastal Erosion and up to date information about the proposed coast protection scheme Crag Walk. For primary Schools these areas are all covered but in less detail and more emphasis is placed on history and art, the latter is explored as a tour of the Art Gallery.
- The Museum and Information Centre includes visual displays about The Naze and the proposed coast protection scheme Crag Walk.
- The Tower provides a base and focus for the visit. Lunch or refreshments are available from the Tea Rooms in the Tower.
